A Healthy Life in Mendoza
The San Martin Park, located in the core of the capital city, and only a few blocks away from Mendoza's 5 Stars Hotel, has become a cultural and historical icon in the province. Throughout the year, numerous cultural, educational, sports and tourism are developed in its environs.
Important events like the National Harvest Festival at the Greek Theatre Frank Romero Day, the yearly meeting Americanto, symphony orchestra concerts in Island Lake, international sporting events in the World Championship stadium Falkland Islands, sailing in the Lake, open air cinema in the Rose Garden, marathons, bicycle rides, competitions and meetings of all kinds.
Within this leisure space we can find seven clubs, which offer the most varied features: golf, tennis, rowing, soccer. Cultural and recreational activities also have their place in a major museum, the one committed to Natural Sciences and Anthropology, which is located in the old edifice of "Playas Serranas", with important paleontological and archaeological samples of minerals. Everyday, this museum is visited by lots of students and tourists.
During the weekend the Sports Office coordinates free activities at the roundabout, placed on a space close to the Rose Garden. These join hundreds of souls who blend a healthy lifestyle with the clean environment of the Park. Saturday and Sunday are very busy days for those who visit the park. They can choose from an attractive diversity of activities to try, such as healthy walks, aerobics, yoga, health and nutrition workshops and dancing routines.
Once in the the park, we can also visit the Museum of Natural History and Anthropology Cornelio Moyano. It is one of the earliest museums in the inner country. It has 40,000 copies in their departments of Mineralogy, Paleontology, Ethnology, Archaeology and Zoology. In their collections we can find fossils of about five hundred million years old, like the archaeological samples of the Inca and Huarpe tribes, as well as stuffed animals.
A visit to the San Martin Park is already a classic among the main tourist proposals in the province of Mendoza, particularly in the capital city. This park is not only about beautiful flora and gorgeous fountains. It is also the place where many entertaining cultural and sport activities are developed. Residents and guests of the Mendoza's 5 Stars Hotel find in this park a nice chance to relax and to try healthy disciplines for their minds and bodies.
